Happened upon an orchestra warming up/rehearsing inside st. Louis cathedral at jackson square in new orleans. It's that beautifully cacophonous sound of all the instruments getting into tune, some of the musicians talking (a few tourists as well).

It is a recording made with the following instrument´s: 1. Pianito toy model n88e / hk-6015c from china; 2. A steren brand microphone, steren amateur model, was used; 3. The recording was done using the pure data adc code, and the necessary code to make a sampler with [tabwrite ~]; 4. The recording was made with the audio interface provided by the tb-03 monophonic synthesizer and with the arduor 5 digital audio station; the processing instruments used to perform equalization, mixing and mastering, the so-called “eq arduor team” and “compressor arduor team” virtual instruments.

This is a very old, out of tune accordian (the tuning wavers way off key on the main notes as it plays). It might be useful for messing around with to create undertones for a horror or mystery with a rise-fall pattern. I recorded it on an se x1 large condenser mic. Completely free to use for anything. Wine glass, tuned with water, being hit with an improvised percussion stick made from chopstick and a piece of plastic. Recorded with olympus ls-10 (no zoom) in a small reverberating bathroom, edited in audacity. The whole pack intended to be used as a virtual instrument. Note c#4 (root note c5, 440hz).

The loop was created with one of reaktor 5's instruments which was modified to create 4-second loops that sounds something like techno or general electronica. The drums are all created using a subtractive synthesizer, most of them sine waves and were modified several times.

Rhythm with the light sound of strings and no melody. Might be good background music as it's not too demanding of attention.

After handing out instruments, but before getting down to business, i let the students play one long note on their instruments.
